Podcasts

Podcasts (a combination of the words iPod and broadcast) are sound and video files produced in a compressed format and uploaded to a page on the Internet that resembles a Weblog (blog). They usually focus on a certain topic or area of interest and can serve purposes from leisure to

According to Stanley (2005), there are at least four different types of podcasts that can be used for educational purposes:

  • Authentic podcasts: Created by experts in the area;
  • Teacher podcasts: created by teachers to enhance the students’ skills;
  • Educator podcasts: used by educators as a reflective tool by teaching professionals, nad
  • Student podcasts:  created by students for each other
